Turkey election voting underway in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Deventer

The about 240 thousand Turkish-Dutch people in the Netherlands will be casting their votes for the Turkish parliamentary elections between Wednesday and Sunday. Polling stations have been set up at three locations in the Netherlands - the RAI center in Amsterdam, the Ahoy in Rotterdam and sports hall De Scheg in Deventer. The poling stations are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. The new elections were called after the coalition negotiations collapsed. In Turkey itself the elections will be held on November 1st. According to Het Parool, a number of people were already waiting in line at the RAI at 9:30 on Wednesday morning. "I live in Amsterdam, so it is very convenient for me. It's on my way to work. Previous times I had to go to Rotterdam to vote", Tugrul Avderen said to the newspaper from the line. A number of Turkish-Dutch people recently received a letter asking them to vote for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's AK-party. This letter caused quite a commotion as it is unclear where the Turkish political party got hold of these people's personal information.
