Nijmegen researcher wins Ig Nobel for research into “Huh? What did you say?”

Mark Dingemanse, a language scientist from Nijmegen, has won the Ig Nobel Prize for Literature. Dingemanse and two foreign colleagues won the prize for their research into the word "huh?" The Ig Nobel Prize is awarded to scientists whose work make people laugh and think, according to NU. Dingemanse and his colleagues discovered that the word "huh", or something similar, is present in almost every human language in the world, though it is not clear why. The awards were presented at Harvard University in the United States. Dingemanse was not present at the ceremony and will be later honored in Amsterdam. This is the twelfth time that a Dutchman wins an Ig Nobel Prize, according to the organization.
