Dutch consumer confidence upbeat for seventh straight month

Consumer confidence in the Netherlands has been positive for seven months in a row. It took a slight dip to 5 in September, compared to 6 in August, but is still well above the -8 average for the last 20 years. This is according to figures released by Statistics Netherlands on Friday. The decline in September can largely be attributed to consumers being less positive about the economic climate. The sub economic climate indicator came out on 14 in September, compared to 20 in August. Consumers' willingness to buy is slightly less negative in September than in August. The sub-indicator for consumer confidence rose one point and came out at -2. This is mainly due to consumers being slightly less negative about their financial situation over the past 12 months and the times being favorable for making major purchases.
