Cyber attack causes more strife at Ziggo

Thousands of Ziggo subscribers had little or no internet on Tuesday night due to a so-called DDoS attack on the internet service provider. The nationwide disruption has been resolved, Ziggo announced on Wednesday morning. Ziggo subscribers from all across the Netherlands reported their internet connection problems on Twitter.

^AV

So far nothing is known about who was behind the attack. In a DDoS attack, a large amount of traffic is sent to specific servers, causing them to crash. According to the AD, the attack was directed at Ziggo's so-called DNS servers, which convert website addresses to IP addresses. If those servers falter, the internet connection falters. This internet disruption was another annoyance for the many customers who have been experiencing problems since Ziggo merged with UPC . A survey done by the Volkskrant in April revealed that a quarter of all Ziggo customers had trouble with their service since the merger. The company's results for the first quarter showed that Ziggo and UPC lost around 50 thousand customers in the first three months of this year. https://twitter.com/Pieter_180/status/633761306181566464

Altijd fijn als Twitter bevestigt dat je niet de enige bent met een storing #ziggo
