Cop shoots suspect after officer stabbed

A police officer shot a suspect in Uithoorn on Tuesday night after the suspect stabbed another officer during an arrest. The injured officer was taken to the hospital. The Public Prosecutor stated on Twitter that the officer has since been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment a stab wound to the arm. The suspect is still in the hospital. He had to receive an operation, but his condition is not life-threatening.

The incident happened in the De Gasperiflat in Uithoorn, Noord-Holland. The Public Prosecutor did not comment on why the suspect was arrested.

The Rijksrecherche, the State Investigation Department that handles internal investigations at the police, is investigating the incident as is procedure when police officers fire shots. On Twitter police officers expressed their support for their injured colleague.
