Homes evacuated as fire rages in Lochem

Dozens of people had to be evacuated from their homes after a fire broke out in an onrganic shop in Lochem, Gelderland early on Friday morning. The fire started around 3:40 a.m., AD reports. A total of 30 homes and apartments in the surrounding area were evacuated. The dozens of residents were given shelter in a nearby Chinese restaurant. Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke, which according to the safety office, moved over a residential area. Fire brigades from Lochem, Barchem, Laren and Ruurlo were called in to help fight the fire.
