Amsterdam's athletics stadium rejected for 2016 European Championships

The Amsterdam athletics field Olympic Stadium has been provisionally rejected for the European Championships in 2016 because the track has insufficient shock absorption. According to the rules of the international athletics federation, an athletics track should have at least 35 percent shock absorption. A check by an independent agency revealed that the track in Amsterdam has only 31 percent, NOS reports. According to the broadcaster, fixing the problem may cost tens of thousands of euros. Hans Lubberding, director of the Olympic Stadium, told NOS that consultations with the supplier have been arranged for Friday. They will discuss possible solutions during the consultation.
