Finance Min.: Schiphol CEO bonus too high

The bonus of Schiphol boss Jos Nijhuis is too high, according to Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem. The minister suggested that the bonus of the Schiphol CEO should be lowered, reports RTL Niews. Two weeks ago, Schiphol announced that Nijhuis would receive a bonus of 100 percent of his salary. Including the bonus, Nijhuis will receive a total compensation of 900,000 euros. Dijsselbloem pointed out in a letter to parliament that there is a bonus limit of 20 percent now. Schiphol also adheres to the limit since 2014 when signing new contracts, but since Nijhuis started work at the airport earlier, the restriction apparently does not apply to him. Despite the bonus complying with the rules, Dijsselbloem still believes it to be too high. He asked the airport to bring the remuneration in line with the new policy. Nijhuis mentioned earlier in the NRC that he believes his compensation to be fair given the complexity and extent of his work. The government is the largest shareholder of Schiphol with 70 percent of the shares. The city of Amsterdam owns another 20 percent.
