Friday's solar eclipse likely to be clouded over

The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) is predicting clouds throughout the country on Friday, which will make seeing the solar eclipse hard, Het Parool reports. "The conditions are not really favorable. If we're lucky, there will be a clearing and people will still have a chance to see something," a KNMI spokesperson told Het Parool. Friday's eclipse begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 11:48. During a solar eclipse, the moon moves more slowly than the sun. Their largest overlap, covering approximately 80 percent of the sun's visible surface to the Netherlands, will be at 10:37 a.m. Despite the cloudy weather, the eclipse will make the weather slightly bleaker and darker than normally.
