Relative of missing woman held for her murder

The police arrested a 51 year old man from Nijmegen this morning on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Mariska Peters. The suspect is related to Peters. According to the police, the suspect has an earlier conviction and therefore spent time in a psychiatric institution. He is currently in the final phase of the psychiatric treatment on an open ward of an institution in Nijmegen. Peters' body was found in the woods of Hatertse Vennen on February 22nd after she had been missing for two weeks. The police concluded that she had been strangled. The investigation into her death is still ongoing.
