Lottery hands out big checks to Feyenoord, Ajax

Amsterdam Ajax and Feyenoord Rotterdam got a financial advantage when both team received big checks from lottery organization VriendenLoterij during the Goed Geld Gala in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Contributing Rotterdam fans gave over a million euros (1,069,863€) for their club, with Amsterdam Ajax fans generating nearly 917,000 euros for their team, according to the Telegraaf. PSV Eindhoven received 278,867 euros and 175,000 euros was donated to the Johan Cruyff Foundation. Feyenoord Rotterdam technical director Martin van Geel was extremely pleased with the amount. "With this, we can continue to produce and improve our program that we offer for our young players. So we try to bring the youth to an even higher level," he told the newspaper. The VriendenLoterij gave more than fifty million euros to charity, mostly to sport clubs, in 2014.
