School fire a "nightmare", says principal

A large fire raged in the Bernard Lievegoed University in Driebergen early this morning. The school principal described the fire as "a nightmare" to the AD.

The fire broke out around 03:30 this morning in a detached villa on Hoofdstraat. No one was in the building at the time and no one was injured. The fire department was unable to save the property. The fire department struggled to get enough water and the road between the exit on the A12 at Dribergen and station Driebergen was closed down to give the wagons carrying water room.

The fire has been brought under control, but extinguishing the fire may still take several hours, according to the fire brigade. The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
