Emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Brinkseweg at around 11:30 p.m. First responders found three residents outside the burning home. Firefighters had to rescue the other two from inside.

All five were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The severity and nature of their injuries are unknown.

The fire department quickly scaled up its deployment, and multiple firefighting vehicles responded to the scene. They had the blaze under control by 00:45 a.m.

Investigators suspect the fire started in the house's dryer, a spokesperson for Veiligheidsregio Utrecht, the security office in charge of the emergency services in the region, told RTV Utrecht.

The fire caused significant damage, and the home is currently uninhabitable, the spokesperson said.
