Fiat 500 rally honours man stabbed to death

About 70 Fiat 500's, one Ferrari and a dozen other cars drove through Alphen aan den Rijn yesterday to honor Pierre Weymans. Pierre died last week after he was stabbed during a fight on the street. The procession departed at 12:15 p.m. from Carport, the garage that Weymans co-owned. The cars drove through Alphen towards the Oosterbegraafplaats (Eastern Cemetary) where the funeral began at 13:30.

During the past few days Pierre's friends enlisted as many Fiat 500's as possible for the procession, using social media to spread the request. Pierre had a passion for the Italian car. Pierre (27) was stabbed in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14th on Julianastraat in Alphen aan den Rijn. He was trying to stop a fight between a friend and another man when the other man stabbed him in the leg. Pierre was in hospital for more than a week. He died of his injuries last week Monday. A 22 year old suspect has been arrested.
