Amsterdam to host four Euro Cup 2020 matches

UEFA announced on Friday that Amsterdam will be one of the thirteen host cities for the European Championship 2020. Three group matches and a Round of 16 match will be played in the capital city. The Netherlands will have to play qualifying matches from autumn of 2018 to qualify for the event. This will be the second time that European Cup matches will take place in the Netherlands. The Netherlands along with Belgium organized the final tournament fourteen yeas ago. The final of the tournament took place in Rotterdam. The semi finals and final will be played at Wembley in London. The other host cities for the European Championships in 2020 are Munich, Baku, St. Petersburg, Rome, Copenhagen, Bucharest, Dublin, Bilbao, Budapest, Glasgow and Brussels. The European Championship has gained many more participants over the years. In 1976 only four countries participated, from 2016 there will be room for 24 countries. The final tournament will take about a month The European Championship will be held in France in two years, which is why the weren't a candidate for the 2020 Tournament.
