Amsterdam mayor's house trashed

The home of Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan was damaged on Sunday night. Unknown vandals broke the windows in the night. Police hope to find the culprits with the help of security footage. According to the Telegraaf, parking attendants discovered the destruction on the Herengracht at around 4 a.m. and warned the police. Two windows had already been broken on Friday by a disoriented man who "broke windows here and there in the city. He is detained and is not being connected with the event of last night", a police spokesperson says. A third window was broken on Sunday. This is the second time this year that the mayor's house was vandalized. In April, the home was smeared with red paint. "We are investigating whether there are similarities between the two cases", the spokesperson says.
