Missing boy Ates found in good condition

The nine-year old Pedro Ates from Amsterdam, for whom an Amber Alert was issued on Monday, has been found. Police last night sounded the alarm when Pedro wasn't at school and never came home. The boy has been checked and is in good, healthy condition, the Amsterdam police wrote on Twitter.

De 9-jarige Pedro is na onderzoek door de politie in goede gezondheid aangetroffen. Een ieder bedankt voor het meezoeken.

It is still unclear what made Pedro disappear and where he went. He was only found Tuesday morning. Just before he was found, the police sent out an announcement that he was still sought, with no clues whatsoever. It was a worrisome situation. According to the police, Pedro isn't a boy that runs away from home. He was last seen going to school at 8 a.m. Monday, close to his home on the Pennyhof in Sloten. His parents reported him missing at around 9 in the evening on Monday, after Pedro never went to school that day and didn't come home either. It is unclear why the Burgemeester Amersfoordtschool in Badhoevedorp didn't report Pedro's non-attendance to school that day. Shortly after the parents filed a missing person's report, the police sent out an announcement from Burgernet, which didn't return any results. An Amber Alert was then issued.
