Three arrested in miles-long police chase

A wild chase in the night of Tuesday on Wednesday led to the arrest of three suspects in Etten-Leur. Officers in an unmarked car spotted a speeding car, which they signaled to stop, after which the driver tried to shake the police. Around 02:00 officers spotted a Volkswagen Golf speeding on the Van Bergenplein. They followed the car, but when they decided to signal the driver to stop, it became clear he had no such plans. (Jessica V./Twitter) The driver turned off the headlights and tried to escape, driving ever faster and reckless. The suspect managed to avoid a police car that barricaded the Hoevenseweg. On the Orgelhof the Golf suddenly braked hard, crashed into a parked car, and caused another police car to rear-end him. The chase continued on foot and ended in the Cellostraat where the police found him hiding in somebody's front yard. The 20-year-old driver did not have a driver's license and was charged with multiple violations. A passenger in the Golf, a 21-year-old man from Etten-Leur, could not present a valid ID and was arrested also. At the time of the driver's arrest another car drove by. A 20-year-old local got out and walked past an officer. His suspicious behavior prompted the police to ID the man, which he couldn't present. He was also taken in to custody. The owner of the parked car has been notified of the damage.
