Police arrest street racer for years of traffic violations

On Tuesday afternoon, the police arrested a 33-year-old man in Roosendaal on suspicion of reckless driving. The man, who has no fixed address in the Netherlands, was allegedly posting videos on social media for years showing himself speeding and driving irresponsibly. The suspect is in custody, and the police have confiscated his car and Dutch and foreign driving licenses.

“The images show someone driving through Roosendaal and the surrounding area at high speed,” the police said. “Many followers see life-threatening scenes passing by, also through residential areas.”

Although the behavior of the 33-year-old street racer has long been a thorn in the side of the police and the public Prosecution Service (OM), it was difficult to arrest him because the driver is not visible in the online videos, the police said.

According to Omroep Brabant, the suspect is a street racer who calls himself Muis911. According to the regional broadcaster, the person has been sharing videos of the “bizarre speeds” he drives around Roosendaal and the surrounding areas for years.

Last year, he allegedly posted a video in which he speeds through a residential area in the Noord-Brabant village of Bosschenhoofd, near Roosendaal, at 130 kilometers per hour. According to Omroep Bravant, the street racer was already arrested three years ago after he tore across the emergency lane of the A58 at 200 kilometers per hour and zigzagged through traffic. He posted videos of this on Instagram and YouTube.
