The choice of Nieuw-West as the site for the new hotel is a logical one, according to ward chairman, Achmed Baâdoud. 'With the arrival of Chinese tourists and entrepreneurs in Amsterdam, a hotel that focuses on this new market is a necessity.' 'The first step to the "gateway to China," as Baâdoud refers to the project, 'will also create more employment in Nieuw-West.'
