Directors of Failing Schools Liable

Directors and supervisors in the education sector will be jointly and severally liable when they are negligent in the performance of their duties. This includes not only financial management but also educational failure. The Minister and Secretary of Education said this in an interview with NRC. Their plan is a reaction to the problems that occurred at the colleges Inholland and Amarantis, whose directors focused more on their own benefits than on educational quality. The members of government believe that there are insufficient resources to fight these kind of problems and will write laws to make it possible to suspend or dismiss failing directors.
