Police employee held in custody on suspicion of bribery, cybercrime, money laundering
A 28-year-old employee of the Zeeland-West Brabant police unit is under criminal investigation. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service (OM) said the Rijksrecherche, the Netherlands’ national investigative unit for suspected misconduct by public officials, has opened the investigation.
The suspect was arrested on Monday. He is suspected of computer intrusion, breach of official secrecy, passive official bribery, and money laundering.
On Thursday, he appeared before an examining magistrate. The magistrate ordered that he remain in pretrial detention.
Authorities said he is being held under restrictions, which limit his contact with the outside world.
