45-year-old woman found dead in Helmond home; man with no fixed residence arrested
A 45-year-old woman was found dead in her home during the night from Friday to Saturday. Police suspect foul play and arrested a 33-year-old man with no fixed address at the scene.
The woman is said to be from Eastern Europe, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad (ED). How she died and the relationship between the suspect and the victim are unknown.
Police found the woman’s body around 2:00 a.m. in a residence on Pastoor Van Leeuwenstraat in Helmond, following a 112 emergency call.
Police have cordoned off Pastoor van Leeuwenstraat and a square in front of the house, directly opposite the city's hobby center, Het Baken, with tape.
“The neighbors are not home or are not opening [their doors],” an ED reporter said on Saturday morning. “A few doors down, an English-speaking man says he has no idea who lives in that home.”
Around 10:45 a.m., two funeral home workers removed the body on a stretcher, the reporter observed. Her body will now be examined in Eindhoven.
Authorities may be able to obtain footage from a nearby building that shows the area around the home, a detective from the digital forensics unit told the reporter.
