“There is a bomb on board” Wi-Fi name delays KLM flight from Málaga to Schiphol

A KLM flight from Málaga to Schiphol was delayed for several hours Saturday evening after a bomb threat appeared as a Wi-Fi hotspot name onboard the aircraft, NH reports.

That prompted a security response from Spanish authorities and from KLM, the airline confirmed. The disruption resulted in a several-hour delay.

The incident began when a passenger set up a personal Wi-Fi hotspot with the name "Allahu Akbar - er is een bom aan boord,” meaning “God is great—there is a bomb on board.”

KLM immediately alerted Spanish security authorities, prompting an urgent response while the aircraft was held on the ground during the investigation.

Many smartphone, tablet, and laptop users can set their device’s Wi-Fi hotspot name with little effort.
