Two KLM jets collide at Schiphol
Two KLM aircraft collided Saturday morning at Schiphol Airport, authorities and the airline confirmed. All passengers and crew on both planes were unharmed.
A Boeing 737 was stationary on the tarmac when another KLM plane made contact while being pushed backward. The circumstances that led to the collision are still under investigation.
“We are investigating the cause of the incident together with the relevant authorities and will thoroughly inspect the aircraft before they return to service,” a KLM spokesperson said.
Passengers and crew were escorted back to the gate. One aircraft was scheduled to depart for Athens, while the other had just arrived from Birmingham. KLM said it promptly rebooked affected passengers on alternative flights.
