Stormy showers, snow in Limburg: Netherlands faces mixed weather this weekend

The Netherlands will experience a mix of rain, snow, and sunshine over the coming days, with conditions varying sharply by region, weeronline reported. The east and south are seeing mostly cloudy skies with occasional rain, while the Limburg hills may receive wet snow. Other areas remain largely dry, with brief sunny intervals.

Heavy showers with hail and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. Temperatures will range from 6 degrees in the east and southeast to 9 degrees along the coast. Showers will move east later in the day, allowing some western regions to catch brief sunshine. Winds will be weak to moderate from the west, increasing slightly near the coast.

By evening, rain will subside in many areas, and skies will begin to clear. Overnight, clear and calm conditions are expected. Inland locations could see temperatures around or just below freezing, while coastal areas will stay between 1 and 3 degrees.

Sunday morning will reportedly bring widespread sunshine, with temperatures ranging from 2 to 5 degrees at 8 a.m. By midday, highs will reach 8 to 10 degrees with a gentle southwest wind. Afternoon temperatures will rise to 11 or 12 degrees in most areas, though the Waddeneilanden and the northwestern coast will remain around 10 degrees. Clouds will increase from the west in the late afternoon.

Rain is forecast again Sunday evening and overnight as a southern wind strengthens to moderate or fairly strong levels (force 4 to 6). Rain will continue eastward during the night into Monday, accompanied by a west wind. Overnight temperatures will drop to roughly 4 degrees.

Monday morning may see a few showers, but breaks of sunshine are expected. Morning temperatures will reach about 7 degrees by the end of the morning. Westerly winds will be moderate inland and fairly strong along the coast. Showers will move east toward Germany in the afternoon, allowing much of the country to remain dry. Highs will reach 9 to 10 degrees.

From Tuesday onward, milder air will move across the country. Clouds will dominate, but occasional sun will appear, and rain is not expected. After morning lows of 2 to 6 degrees, highs will climb to 12 degrees in the north and 14 in the south.

Midweek will bring dry and fairly sunny conditions, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 16 degrees. Winds will shift from east to southeast, bringing warmer air. By the following weekend, cooler air from the northeast will lower highs to 11 to 14 degrees, with overnight lows approaching freezing in some inland areas.
