Far-right Geuzenbond member convicted for illegal firearms in Noord-Brabant
The Rotterdam District Court has sentenced 25-year-old Thomas D. to two years in prison, half of which is conditionally suspended, for the illegal possession of firearms. D. held a 'leading role' within the Geuzenbond, according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), a group identified as far-right by the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV). The court’s ruling aligns with the original sentencing demand made by prosecutors.
Police discovered firearms, other weapons, and large quantities of ammunition and parts in D.’s home. He had converted a gas pistol into a working firearm and produced 100 cartridges for it. While many of the weapons were old, they were still functional. D. also possessed manuals, instructions, and tools for making weapons and ammunition, and he has said he has been interested in guns since childhood.
D. had earlier been suspected of planning a terrorist attack, but that charge was dropped. The court considered the “serious negative impact” of the prior terrorism allegation in sentencing. The confiscated weapons and ammunition will not be returned to him.
D. was arrested in August 2025 after a report from the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) suggested he planned violence against Antifa members. The probation service called his radicalization “concerning,” noting it is hard to tell whether it reflects extremism or “an extreme form of activism.” Due to these concerns and his illegal weapons possession, the court imposed special conditions, including mandatory meetings with a psychologist.
Police raided a former restaurant in Erp, Noord-Brabant, where D. was living as a squatter. The prosecution said the property was also used in part as a “clubhouse” for the Geuzenbond.
