W Hotel Amsterdam faces possible eviction after failing to pay rent for three years

The prestigious W Hotel in central Amsterdam is at risk of being evicted after failing to pay rent for three years, with total arrears— including interest and penalties— reaching 23.4 million euros, according to Het Financieele Dagblad (FD). The hotel sits next to Dam Square.

The hotel is operated by Palace Hotel, part of the Amsterdam-based Sircle Collection hotel group. The W brand itself is owned by U.S.-based Marriott, while day-to-day operations of the Dutch W hotels fall under Sircle Collection.

The company was founded by Israeli entrepreneur Liran Wizman, who has been active in Amsterdam’s hospitality sector for more than 20 years. Wizman also owns The Entourage Group, which operates multiple restaurants and bars in various hotels.

The W Hotel Amsterdam occupies a former PTT building near the Dam. The hotel opened in 2016 and expanded a year later by adding the former Kas Bank building across the street, another high-profile property.
