Dutch supermarkets recall Full Red flavored wine over risk of bottle breakage
Multiple supermarket chains in the Netherlands are recalling Full Red flavored wine bottles after a risk of breakage was identified. Secondary fermentation inside the bottles can create excessive pressure, which may cause them to crack or even explode, posing a potential risk of injury.
"Multiple supermarkets have warned about Full Red flavored wine. The wine may ferment, potentially breaking the bottle. Consumers are advised not to drink it," the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) wrote. The recalls have been announced on the websites of the supermarkets involved and are listed in product warnings often issued in collaboration with the NVWA.
The recall applies to Full Red Flavored Wine in 750 ml bottles. The EAN code is 8718989041793, and the affected lot codes, printed on the neck of the bottle, are L251209, L251218, L251219, and L251222. It is important to note that only bottles with these specific lot codes are affected by the recall.
The affected wine has been sold at several supermarket chains, including DekaMarkt, SPAR, Boni, PLUS, and Vomar. The wine may also have been sold at other supermarkets, as it is a product carried by multiple chains.
Anyone with the wine at home is warned not to use the bottles and to return them to the store where they are purchased, where you will receive a full refund.
The NVWA issues warnings and recalls for food products that may be hazardous to consumers. Companies are required to notify the NVWA of any unsafe products and take suitable actions, such as recalls or public warnings. The NVWA oversees these reports and ensures consumers receive information through official channels.
