Boney Mmmm: Croquettes recalled over bone chip concerns
Multiple supermarket chains have issued a warning about some oven-baked croquettes that could contain bone fragments. "Do not eat the product," the advice reads.
The warning applies to G'woon beef oven croquettes (4-pack), PLUS oven croquettes (4-pack), and 1deBeste oven croquettes (4-pack), all carrying the expiration date of July 28, 2026.
The croquettes are sold at Boon, Dekamarkt, Dirk, Hoogvliet, Nettorama, PLUS, Poiesz, Spar, and Vomar. The supermarkets say that customers can return the products to the store where they were purchased. They will then receive a refund.
Swallowing food that contains small pieces of bone can cause choking, cuts in the mouth or throat, or damage to the esophagus and digestive tract. In some cases, sharp fragments can lead to internal bleeding or infection.
Anyone who accidentally swallows a bone should monitor for pain, difficulty swallowing, vomiting, or blood in stool, and seek medical attention if any of these symptoms occur.
