Seven injured in multi-car crash in Hazerswoude-Dorp; One vehicle plunges into canal
Seven people were injured Monday evening in a serious multi-car collision on the Hoogeveenseweg (N455) in Hazerswoude-Dorp, part of the Alphen aan den Rijn municipality. One vehicle ended up in a canal, authorities reported to AD.
The crash involved three cars and occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. Two of the victims were reported seriously injured. Emergency responders rescued one person from the car that went into the water and transported them to the hospital. It was unclear whether this person was among the two critically injured.
Three ambulances and a trauma helicopter responded to the scene. Firefighters were also called to assist with the water rescue.
A spokesperson for Veiligheidsregio Hollands Midden said, “It appears that everyone has been removed from the water, but divers are checking to be sure.”
The Hoogeveenseweg was fully closed following the accident. Authorities have not yet released information on what caused the collision.
