Man sentenced to 4 years for sexually attacking 7 women, 1 child in A'dam cafe, theater
The court sentenced 21-year-old Hicham A. to four years in prison and compulsory psychiatric treatment (TBS) for raping three women, sexually assaulting four other women, and sexually assaulting a child. The man attacked his victims in the restrooms of a cinema and a café in Amsterdam, AT5 reports.
A. attacked the girls and women between 2021 and 2024. He approached them on the street, at a train station, in the supermarket, or on the train, and then took them to a café or cinema. He then often lured them into the restroom, locked the door, and violently sexually assaulted or raped them. In many cases, he then forced the victims to transfer money to him.
“The man’s behavior is very similar in all cases,” the court said. “He overwhelmed the women and pressured them to do what he wanted.” According to the court, the women and girls not only did not consent, but A. also coerced them to perform or submit to sexual acts. “Each report clearly shows that the man determined what happened and refused to accept no for an answer,” the court said.
A. denied the accusations against him. “I am not a rapist, not a molester, I am not an abuser. That is a fact. You want to punish me for things I did not do. Be my guest,” he said during the trial. He did confess to robbing many of his victims. “I regret stealing their money; I was a jerk.”
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) said in court that the women and girls will live the rest of their lives with the physical and emotional scars of what A. did to them. “Ultimately, the suspect was driven by his own pleasure and enjoyment, and it didn’t really matter what his victims wanted or felt. Above all, they were not allowed to complain. And with comments like, ‘You’re not a virgin anymore’ and ‘I’m going to fuck someone else wearing a headscarf,’ he gave the victims an extra severe kicking.”
The sentence imposed by the court is equal to what the OM recommended.
