Dutch e-bike and fatbike company Voltes declared bankrupt

Voltes B.V., a Dutch company specializing in e-bikes, fatbikes, electric scooters, and hoverboards, was declared bankrupt last week by the court in Noord-Holland, according to Bright.nl.

Founded in 2017, Voltes quickly gained recognition in the electric mobility market. Initial growth extended beyond the Netherlands, but increasing competition and shrinking profit margins eventually strained the company.

“On August 26, 2025, Voltes B.V. in Alkmaar (Netherlands) was declared bankrupt by the court in Noord-Holland,” the company announced on its website.

The owners filed for bankruptcy themselves, according to Axel de Groot of Tanger Advocaten in Alkmaar. At the time, the company employed seven staff members, all of whom have now been dismissed.
