Two Dutch motorcyclists (56, 62) killed in crash in German Harz Mountains

Two Dutch motorcyclists died Friday afternoon in the Harz Mountains in central Germany after losing control of their motorcycles on a provincial road between Allrode and Stiege, according to a German newspaper Die Zeit.

The victims, a 56-year-old and a 62-year-old man—likely from Urk—crashed in a left-hand curve. The 56-year-old collided with multiple trees, while the 62-year-old struck a guardrail.

Emergency responders attempted to save both riders, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation by German authorities.

According to the platform Het Urkerland, the men were members of a local Urk motorcycle club and likely part of a larger group traveling in the region. The 56-year-old was described as a “former resident” of Urk.
