Motorcyclist, 59, dies after crash near Dronten

A 59-year-old man from Doornspijk died Friday evening after a serious motorcycle crash on the Elburgerweg near Dronten in Flevoland, police confirmed.

The accident occurred shortly before 6:45 p.m., when the man lost control of his motorcycle for unknown reasons and crashed, according to Hart van Nederland. Emergency services responded in large numbers. Several ambulances and a trauma helicopter were deployed to the scene. The motorcyclist received immediate treatment in the roadside grass, according to Hart van Nederland's correspondent on site.

The victim, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He died later that evening as a result of his injuries. Police stated that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Elburgerweg, a main road between Dronten and Elburg, was closed to traffic for an extended period while police investigated the scene.
