Feyenoord receive record fee for sale of defender David Hancko to Saudi team AI Nassr

Feyenoord defender David Hancko is leaving the club for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese has confirmed that Hancko has been given permission to complete the transfer. Te Kloese would not give the specific fee that Feyenoord will receive for Hancko, but confirmed that it is over 35 million euros, a club record for Feyenoord.

Hancko will sign a lucrative three-year contract for Al Nassr, where he will play with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Slovakian defender joined Feyenoord in 2022 from Sparta Prague for just over eight million euros.

The transfer was already set to be completed a month ago, but then the Al Nassr management team departed from the club. This led many to think that the transfer was off, but the Saudi club recently returned with a new bid.

Hancko has already said goodbye to his teammates at Feyenoord, according to Voetbal International. The defender was Feyenoord’s reserve captain last season, behind Quinten Timber.

The defender will be positively regarded by the fans in Rotterdam. He leaves the club having won the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup in consecutive seasons.
