Seven explosions in Rotterdam region in two nights

The Rotterdam region has been rocked by seven explosive attacks over the past two nights. Last night, explosives detonated at a home in Capelle aan den IJssel, a home and a shop in Rotterdam, and a shop in Schiedam. On Monday night, there were two blasts in Rotterdam and one in Dordrecht.

The explosion that caused the most damage last night was at a cosmetics shop on the Broervest shopping street in Schiedam. The blast happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The blast was so loud it could be heard as far as way as Rotterdam, a correspondent told Rijnmond. It shattered the shop’s windows, dislocated its doors, and damaged the roof covering of the adjacent homes. The homes on the floors above the shop also sustained significant damage.

About 45 minutes earlier, an explosive went off at a hookah shop on Schiedamseweg in Rotterdam, causing a small fire. The blast and fire damaged the shop's front door, shattered its windows, and left behind a soot-covered facade.

At 12:40 a.m., there was an explosion at a home on Fionringras in Rotterdam-Ommoord. And at 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, an explosion damaged mailboxes and the porch of a home in Capelle aan den IJssel.

The night before, there were three explosions in one hour in the region. The first target was a terraced house on Pretorialaan in the Feijenoord neighborhood of Rotterdam at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Several homes had to be evacuated, a correspondent told Rijnmond.

About 20 minutes later, an explosive detonated at a terraced home on Beinemastraat in Dordrecht, leaving a large hole in the front window. And at around 3:50 a.m., an explosive detonated at a beauty salon on Vierambachtsstraat in Rotterdam-West. The blast damaged the shutter of the salon.

As far as is known, no one was injured in the seven explosions so far this week, and no arrests have been made.
