NS, Arriva running extra trains to Nijmegen for Vierdaagse walking event
NS and Arriva are running extra trains to and from Nijmegen next week during the Vierdaagse walking event and the accompanying festivities. Last year, the Vierdaagse attracted about a million people to Nijmegen, including 47,000 participants in the Four-day Marches, Hart van Nederland reports.
This year, NS will run extra early morning trains from Den Bosch, Utrecht Central Station, and Zwolle to Nijmegen so that participants can arrive at the start on time. In the evening and night, the carrier will run longer and extra trains to and from Nijmegen.
From Monday, July 12, to Friday, July 18, Arriva will run extra night trains between Arnhem and Doetinchem and between Elst and Tiel. These will connect to the NS trains from Nijmegen. On the days of the Marches, Tuesday to Friday, Arriva will run trains all night between Nijmegen and Venray.
To ensure a smooth flow of the many travellers, NS and Arriva will both deploy extra employees at Nijmegen station. There will also be access gates at the entrance, and NS will check for valid tickets at the station.
