Sunshine and warm days before stormy Saturday; Temps up to 32 degrees on Friday

The Netherlands is in for some lovely summer weather in the days ahead, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures. Friday will even be tropically warm, with thermometers topping 30 degrees in many places. There is a chance of thunderstorms on Friday evening, and Saturday will be stormy and rainy, according to Weeronline.

Wednesday will be sunny in the southwestern half of the country and partly cloudy in the north and east. Maximums will climb to 16 degrees on the Wadden Islands, 17 to 20 degrees elsewhere in the north, and 20 to 23 degrees in the southern half of the country. A moderate easterly to northeasterly wind will pick up in the afternoon.

Thursday will be dry and sunny and warmer than Wednesday. Thermometers will reach 21 to 23 degrees on the Wadden Islands, 23 to 25 degrees elsewhere in the north of the Netherlands, and a summery 25 to 29 degrees in the middle and south of the country. Limburg and the east of Noord-Brabant will see the highest temperatures. The wind will be moderate to sometimes quite strong and will blow from the east to the southeast.

Friday will be the hottest day of the week, with the entire country hitting summer values of 25 or above. Some places in the south may even see thermometers climb to 32 degrees. “The humidity will be high and it will therefore feel oppressively warm,” Weeronline warned. A weak breeze from between the east and south will provide little relief. Cloud cover will increase somewhat from the south on Friday afternoon, and at the end of the day, there is a chance of thunderstorms in the south and west.

Saturday will see rain and thunderstorms in many places, though the western coastal area may remain unaffected. “The temperature forecast for Saturday is rather uncertain,” Weeronline said. “If the showers start slowly, it can still be tropically warm in the eastern provinces with around 30 degrees. If the showers arrive early, it will not get much warmer than 25 degrees.”

Father’s Day on Sunday will start cloudy, with maybe a shower or two, but the sun will shine increasingly from the west during the afternoon. Maximums will climb to between 20 and 23 degrees with a moderate westerly wind.
