Two home robbers caught in the act in Schiedam; family tied up, father seriously injured
Early Saturday morning, two men were caught during a home invasion at a residence in Schiedam where a family was held captive. A 32-year-old man from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and a 28-year-old man from Zoetermeer were arrested at the scene, police reported.
Inside the home, one of the children—a girl—and her parents were tied up by the intruders. The 62-year-old father sustained a head injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
His 51-year-old wife was examined on site by paramedics. Their other daughter, aged 17, was unharmed, as were both children overall.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released details on what exactly occurred during the incident or whether any weapons were used.
Authorities have expressed concern over the impact of the event on the family and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
