Video: One killed in fire at brand new apartment complex in Raamdonksveer
One person died in a fire in an apartment complex in Raamdonskveer on Wednesday evening. The identity of the victim is not yet known, the police said on X. According to Brabants Dagblad, the complex is brand new.
The fire in the complex on Sint-Theresiastraat broke out at around 8:45 p.m. and spread quickly. The fire brigade scaled up twice to fight the flames. By 9:00 p.m., six fire engines were at the scene.
The other emergency services also responded in large numbers, including five police vehicles, three ambulances, and a trauma team by helicopter.
Around 9:40 p.m., firefighters had the blaze under control.
First responders evacuated the residents of the building. Paramedics checked several of them for smoke inhalation.
The fire caused a lot of smoke in the area. The local security office, Veiligheidsregio Midden- en West-Brabant, urged locals to keep their windows and doors closed and turn off the ventilation system.
