Hoorn schools warn about porn showing up in children’s Snapchat group
Primary and secondary schools in and around Hoorn said on Friday that children are being added to a group on Snapchat, and then being shown pornographic images. Schools in the Noord-Holland city confirmed that they issued a warning to parents and children about the matter.
Tabor College and the small vocational school Vonk both warned parents about the chat group, “dit wordt de grootste groeps-chat ooit,” which translates in English as “this will be the biggest group chat ever.”
Primary schools have also spoken to children about it. They advised the children to leave the group immediately, and to talk to their parents or guardians about it.
It is not yet known how many children have actually been added to the group. It is also not known whether they were shown pornographic imagery showing adults, or images portraying sexually abused children. It has not been made clear whether those added to the group were also encouraged to share explicit photos and videos of themselves.
No individuals have been held responsible, or named as the administrator behind the chat group. It has yet to emerge whether similar warning have been issued outside of Hoorn and the surrounding area.
