Police video shows crash that ended 75 km chase in Enschede; Car stolen in Utrecht

Dutch police have released camera footage of a wild police chase in Enschede. The chase was ended when a police car smashed into the vehicle. The suspect was arrested by officers when he jumped out of the car and tried to flee on foot. The 24-year-old man from Poland was unharmed, NOS reported.

Police footage shows the end of a chase that lasted for 75 kilometers between Apeldoorn and Enschede. The chase started on Monday evening when a car was stolen in Utrecht. The owner alerted the police shortly after this, who spotted the car near Apeldoorn.

The driver was asked to stop on two occasions but ignored the plea, which resulted in a chase that went up to 190 kilometers an hour. It included police vehicles ramming into the car, the suspect driving on the wrong side of the road, and the vehicle narrowly avoiding a truck.

A police dog was used to arrest the suspect when he tried to flee. He is currently still in custody for theft. Police have stated that they will share more footage from the chase.

This comes a day after a stolen vehicle was hit by a train in Berghem near Oss, which resulted in two men losing their lives. This had also been preceded by a police chase.
