Video: Two dead, one hurt in accident on Gelderland highway
Two people died in an accident on the A50 highway near Valburg in Gelderland early on Thursday morning. A third person was seriously injured, the Gelderland police reported on X.
The police suspect that the occupants of the car were involved in a crime and crashed while fleeing the scene, NOS reported.
The accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on the A50 highway at the Valburg Interchange to the A15 toward Bemmel. Records show the police responding to the scene at 3:28 a.m., with the fire department and multiple ambulances following soon after.
The police closed the A50 onramp to the A15 for investigation. It was still closed at 8:30 a.m., according to the ANWB.
Photojournalists on the scene told Omroep Gelderland that the car flew out of a bend at high speed, crashed through the crash barrier, and ended up between the adjacent trees.
First responders tried to resuscitate two victims, but it was to no avail. They died at the scene. The third victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
