Eight people with hearing damage after firework explodes at Weert funfair

At least eight people sustained hearing damage after fireworks exploded at a funfair in Weert on Wednesday, the police reported. The police arrested a 25-year-old man from Sittard-Geleen for setting off the fireworks that caused the injuries.

The fireworks that caused the injuries exploded after a fireworks show that closed the funfair. The police stressed that the fireworks show had nothing to do with the other fireworks or the hearing damage.

So far, eight people have come forward with hearing damage. The police did not elaborate on the extent of their injuries.

The police are investigating and asked witnesses and anyone else who got injured in the explosion to come forward.
