PSV and Feyenoord compete for Johan Cruijff Schaal

National champion PSV Eindhoven and cup winner Feyenoord open the new season with a match to win the Johan Cruijff Schaal. Both teams also competed against each other last season for the first prize of the football year. PSV won 1-0 then, thanks to a goal by Noa Lang.

Lang missed a large part of last season, but is now fit again. PSV coach Peter Bosz will not be able to call on the injured Olivier Boscagli and Mauro Júnior. Armando Obispo and the injured Sergiño Dest are also out. In addition, Luuk de Jong was ill last week.

Feyenoord players Calvin Stengs and Quinten Timber will be fit again in time for the match at the Philips Stadium. However, Gernot Trauner is still injured, and Quilindschy Hartman is out until further notice due to a knee injury. New signings Julian Carranza (thigh injury) and Gijs Smal (calf injury) are also missing for Rotterdam, who suffered heavy defeats in their last test matches against Benfica (0-5) and AS Monaco (1-3).

New coach Brian Priske did not want to comment before the game against PSV on whether Justin Bijlow or Timon Wellenreuther will be his first-choice goalkeeper for the time being.
