Minor with stolen car seriously injures woman during chase with Amsterdam police
An underage boy with a stolen car caused havoc in Amsterdam while fleeing from the police on Monday afternoon. He seriously injured a pedestrian by hitting her with the car and crashed into multiple other vehicles, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
At around 3:30 p.m., the police noticed a stolen car they were looking for and gave chase. The driver fled, driving over several busy streets, including Haarlemmerweg and Kinkerstraat. The boy hit multiple other vehicles during his flight.
On Witte de Withstraat, the boy crashed into a woman. She was seriously injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.
The stolen car eventually came to a standstill, but the driver fled further on foot. Officers arrested him a short while later.
They also arrested the passenger in the stolen car, another minor. Both suspects are boys from Amsterdam. They are in custody for further investigation.
