Dutch passport still 3rd most powerful in world; Dutch can visit 191 countries visa-free

The Netherlands still has the third most valuable passport in the world, according to the Henley Passport Index for 2024. Dutch people can visit 191 countries without having to apply for a visa.

The Henley Passport Index is based on data from the International Air Transport Authority. The index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations, awarding a passport one point for every destination it can visit without having to apply for a visa. The London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners has been keeping track of the world's most travel-friendly passports since 2006.

Singapore has the strongest passport in the world, with holders being able to visit 195 countries without applying for a visa or another form of government approval. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain share second place with 192 destinations. The Netherlands shares third place with Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden.

In 2022, the Dutch passport scored fourth place with 188 visa-free travel destinations. In that year, many countries still had travel restrictions in place in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
