Dutch Olympias largely unaffected by sabotage to France's railway

The Dutch athletes in Paris for the Olympic Games are largely unaffected by the massive disruptions to French train traffic caused by sabotage on Friday. Some athletes are slightly delayed, but TeamNL expects everyone to arrive on time for the opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m., a spokesperson told RTL Nieuws.

Sabotage targeting the infrastructure of the French railway company SNCF has severely disrupted train traffic on three of the country’s four high-speed lines, causing chaos. International trains from the Netherlands to France are also impacted. Eurostar canceled a quarter of its timetable on Friday, and the trains running from the Netherlands to Paris are taking 1.5 hours longer than usual.

Eurostar also plans to cut about a quarter of its timetable on Saturday and Sunday. It encouraged travelers to postpone their journey if possible, offering refunds for cancelations or free rebookings.

The chaos in France is not noticeable at the train stations in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, where international trains to France depart. NS reported that they’re no more crowded than usual.
