Code Yellow warning issued for thunderstorms in the east of the country
The KNMI has issued a Code Yellow warning for Gelderland, Overijssel, Flevoland, Drenthe, Groningen, and Friesland until 8 p.m. on Sunday. According to the national meteorological institute, thunderstorms will occur, especially in the east of the country.
The weather institute reports that a lot of rain may fall locally, with the risk of flooding. The showers could bring 20 to 40 millimeters of rain per hour. There may also be localized hail with a size of 1 to 2 centimeters.
According to Weeronline, there will be some showers in the afternoon, especially in the east. During the afternoon, most showers will move out of the country via the east, and widespread clearing will move through from the west. The sun will then shine regularly in many places. Even though it won't be as warm on Sunday as in the last few days, the summer weather will continue with temperatures of up to 26 degrees.
On Saturday, the KNMI issued a Code Yellow warning for the provinces of Utrecht, Noord-Brabant, Gelderland, and Limburg due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
